Propecia – the answer to hair loss

At this moment there are over 85 million of people in the United States alone that are suffering from hair loss. You can very well be one of them if you are reading this text. Someone would think that since it is such a wide spread problem, there should be dozens of solutions to it. Truth be told, there are. It’s just a matter of how well they work (or, in most cases, don’t work).

I’m sure that you have already tried different remedies for this problems, including tinctures, shampoos, creams and other products that are advertised as a sure way to prevent your hair from going away or even that they can help you re-grow your hair on the places where you have lost it. I know people that have tried numerous products of this kind with no effect whatsoever. Suffice to say that they have completely lost all hope that they will ever stop losing their hair.

That is, until they found Propecia hair loss pills. This simple pill, whose generic name is Finasteride and goes by another brand name, Proscar has not only helped so many people to stop losing their hair, but a lot of them have even testified that their hair has started re-growing on places where it was previously receding.

So how is Propecia so effective and what is its mechanism of action? To answer that question we first need to know the reason for hair loss in the first place. Hair loss is a result of too much production of DHT (Dihydrotestosterone) in your body, which is generated as a result of an enzyme reaction on a hormone Androgen. When it is produced in large quantities, DHT starts to connect to the hair follicles. This causes the follicle to shrink and remains incapable of receiving enough blood. Because of this, your hair becomes weak and thin and starts to fall off eventually. The follicle is now too weak to be able to grow new hair.

Propecia can prevent all this from happening as it is 5alfa-reductase inhibitor. What does this mean? It means that it can convert the already mentioned Dihydrotestosterone into testosterone and thus prevent further hair loss by allowing the follicles to have a steady supply of blood.

In order to determine how effective Propecia really is, medical experts have done a 5 year test of this drug. Of those men that have been taking 1mg of Propecia every day, 2 out of 3 have shown some kind of hair re-growth. Those who were not taking Propecia were losing their hair. 48% percent of people who have used Propecia have experienced a notable hair growth, while 42% have said that they are no longer losing their hair.

However, you should keep in mind that Propecia is only effective as long as you are using it. Once you stop, after 6 to 12 months, you are likely to start losing hair all over again.

Is Propecia the best solution for your hair loss problem?

Hair loss is different from hair loss as the hair will fall as a result of a natural process and the hair that has fallen off will be replaced by new hair. In case of hair loss, this is not the case and you won’t be able to grow new hair on the place where you’ve already lost it, at least not by any natural means.

Hair loss is most often experienced by men than women, but that does not mean that women can’t lose their hair. Fortunately for them, it happens much less often than with men. Hair loss can be caused by a number of different physical and psychological factors, side effects of certain medications, chemotherapy or simply by stress. Another reason why you might be losing your hair can also be genetic. If your family, especially on your father’s side has a history of hair loss, there is a good chance that you will experience it yourself.

Male pattern baldness is the most common type of losing hair. This condition, which is also called androgenic alopecia is most often be recognized by a well-defined pattern in which it acts. It starts above the temples and then progresses toward the crown area of the head, leaving thinned hair everywhere on its path. This type of MPB can even lead to total baldness and is called Hippocratic balding.

The main cause of MPB is the hormone dihydrotestosterone. This hormone is created when the hormone testosterone gets into contact with the enzyme called five-alpha-reductase. DHT then attacks the hair follicles, prevents them from gaining the necessary blood flow and, as a result, they shrink and eventually die off. Because if this, the hair at those places also stops growing.

Propecia is a drug that was developed to combat this problem. It inhibits the 5-a-reductase enzyme and thus prevents it from attaching to testosterone and creating DHT. The drug has been approved by the FDA and has proven to be effective in treating MPB when used continuously, so if you want to stop your hair from receding, you should definitely consider asking your doctor about it.

This hair loss pill should be taken regularly. If you stop taking it, you might find that the problem has come back. This is because Propecia is not a cure, but only a treatment for this condition.

Another thing that you might find a problem with is that Propecia can take a long time before it starts to show any real effects. In most cases, you will have to wait for two or three weeks before any positive effects appear. During this time, you might experience certain side effects, like decrease in sexual desire, decrease in the semen volume you ejaculate or problems with your erection. Fortunately, these side effects are rare and only about 3-4% of men taking Propecia experience any one of them.

As you can see, Propecia can take away the worry from your mind that you will lose your hair. All you have to do is take it regularly and follow the instructions that your doctor has given you.
